Alan Barr is founder and managing director of the boutique design agency greyMatters, located in Singapore. The firm specializes in landscape, architecture, interiors, and identity design for hospitality developments of varying typologies.

His work and projects range from hotels and resorts to casinos, super-yachts to private helicopters, clubs and spas, and premium residential projects.

Before establishing greyMatters, Barr left his early-Asian mark as managing director, Asia for Sydney based (CHADA). Even earlier, Barr was creative director at BLINK Design Group, developing creations such as Sarasvati – A Luxury Collection Resort in Bali, Qbe @ Gole Market in Delhi, Punjab Grill at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, WildFlower Beach Club in Phuket, and Sanctuary Residence Club in Delhi.

His earlier portfolio while a managing director at zeffdesign in New York includes projects such as the Harrison restaurant, Sense Spa at The Carlyle Hotel, Dream Hotel, Fathom Super Yacht in Malta, Night Hotel, Social Hollywood, and the Theory Clothing New York flagship. He has also worked on hospitality gaming projects like Venetian’s Paiza Suites for high rollers in Macau, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino redevelopment in Las Vegas, and the famed Imperia Beach Resort in Las Vegas.
